Associate Vice President for Strategy and Operations

Dr. Christopher ("Chris") Holland is currently serving as the Associate Vice President for Strategy and Operations providing strategic leadership within the Division of Finance and Administration. He assists the VPFA/CFO with strategic planning and organizational priorities, collaborating on division activities to ensure operational effectiveness and alignment with the university’s goals and objectives.

 Throughout his 25+ year career in higher education, he has held various positions at multiple colleges and universities including serving as the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at the University of Hawaii at Hilo; the Vice President of Student Services at Florida State College at Jacksonville; the Dean of Students at the College of St. Joseph, Brevard College, and the State University of New York at Purchase. He also served as the Chief Housing Officer at George Mason University and Mississippi University for Women and was the Director of Residence Life at the University of Alabama. He helped lead divisional efforts in strategic planning and organizational assessments at several of these institutions.  

 Chris obtained his AA in liberal arts from Jamestown Community College in New York, where he was recognized as the "Outstanding Alumni" in May 2016. He earned his B.A. and M.A. in English from the State University of New York College at Fredonia; completed his M.S. in Higher Education Administration from the State University of New York at Albany, during which time he served as a member of the SUNY Board of Trustees from 2000-2002; and his doctorate from the University of Alabama in Higher Education Administration. He has actively contributed to various boards and organizations and was honored as the NASPA Region III "Most Outstanding Community College Professional" in 2017. 

 Beyond his administrative roles, Chris has served as a curriculum coordinator for first-year experience programs and has extensive teaching experience in UNIV 100-type courses, English courses, and graduate programs for higher education administration.
